Breastfeeding Basics

This class is 2.5 hours in length. Overview of basic breastfeeding is given, including:

  • How breastfeeding works
  • Common challenges and what to do about them
  • Latch
  • When to feed the baby
  • Nutrition for breastfeeding moms
  • Hands-on practice of positioning  

Participants given the printed Understanding Breastfeeding book with online content. This class fulfills the prerequisite for Breastfeeding and Pumping for Working Moms Class, and participants receive a 50% discount on that class.

Breastfeeding and Pumping for Working Moms

This one hour class may be attended before birth or with your baby. Transition to breastfeeding while working is covered, including:

  • What type of pump and equipment you will need
  • How and when to pump
  • Breastmilk storage
  • Introducing a bottle
  • Pump cleaning
  • Common challenges and how to handle them
  • Breastfeeding or a breastfeeding class is a prerequisite.

Everything you need to know about breastfeeding - if you are soon-to-be expecting or are postpartum and need additional help. Our certified instructor discusses how to tell if baby is getting enough to eat, ways to establish a good milk supply and how to prevent or manage common early feeding problems.

Bedrest Childbirth/Breastfeeding Education

Printed materials with online class content provided, with brief instruction given and questions answered at bedside for moms admitted to the antepartum unit. Order required.

Breastfeeding support group designed for mothers to attend after deliver in order to initiate friendships and exchange information with regards to breastfeeding.

Lactation Class

Prenatal breastfeeding class is designed to help mothers with getting off to a good start with breastfeeding. Key lactation and breastfeeding principles as well as positioning techniques are reviewed. The Instructor discusses how to tell if baby is getting enough to eat, ways to establish a good milk supply and how to prevent or manage common early feeding challenges.
