Perinatal Palliative Care Program at Piedmont Athens

Palliative Care is also known as comfort care for the end of life. Palliative care aims to focus on a family-centered time spent promoting quality of life instead of prolonging life with procedures and treatments.

Piedmont Athens Regional Labor and Delivery offers families support as they anticipate the loss of a baby. Grief can start with a terminal diagnosis at a prenatal visit. Our team of OB nurses, physicians, chaplains, and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit staff comfort and guide patients through the process of making decisions and answering questions as they plan for the delivery of their baby. We want to help alleviate the anxiety of the unknown and help patients be as prepared as possible for the birth of their child.

To register for a Palliative Care Meeting, call 706-475-3333 or talk with your physician to get one scheduled.
