Volunteer Opportunities at Piedmont Walton
Volunteers at Piedmont Walton Hospital are a valuable part of our excellent healthcare team and are made up of adult volunteers and college students. They generously give their time and talents to provide assistance to patients, visitors and staff and are regularly rewarded with sincere thanks for their generous acts of kindness.

Adult Volunteers (ages 18+ and not in college)
Adults applying for volunteer service at Piedmont Walton Hospital will submit a completed volunteer application. Assignments are based on openings in the volunteer schedule, skills and interests of the applicant. Requirements include a background check, two consecutive two-step tuberculosis screenings, a flu shot during flu season and a COVID vaccination. Adult volunteers are required to make a minimum one-year commitment. Adults interested in applying for the program should review this document of important information before completing an application.
Becoming a New Volunteer at Piedmont Walton Hospital
Volunteer opportunities are available five days a week with some service areas available seven days a week, nights and weekends. We are currently accepting adult volunteer applications. Please print and complete the following application. You will also need to read the handbook and send a copy of the signed signature page with your application.

College Volunteers
The application for the Fall 2023 semester is closed. Applications for the Spring 2024 semester are due by Wednesday, November 15, 2023.
College students may apply each semester by submitting a completed college volunteer application. Requirements include a background check, two consecutive two-step tuberculosis screenings (within 60 days of volunteer start date), a flu shot during flu season and a COVID vaccination. There will be a $40 fee for College Volunteers to cover the cost of your background check and PWH College Volunteer polo shirt to be worn while volunteering, which will be due at your orientation. Letters of recommendation will be written upon request for those students who actively serve a minimum of 36 hours in a semester.
College volunteer opportunities are available in various departments throughout the hospital with some service areas available seven days a week, nights and weekends. Availability of departments varies each semester. If selected for the program, you will serve one 4-hour shift per week on a set schedule (in one department).

Applications should be completed and submitted via email to Heather.Boyce@piedmont.org by Wednesday, November 15, 2023 for the Spring 2024 Semester, which will run January 29th through April 26th, 2024.
Once all documents have been received, your application will be processed, and the Community Relations Manager will contact you. There will be two options for a mandatory in-person Orientation – Friday, January 19th (1-2:30 p.m.) or Tuesday, January 23rd (6:30-8 p.m.).

The College Volunteer Program is not an internship program, nor is it a means to obtain a job within the hospital. The College Volunteer Program does not place community service volunteers.
Chaplaincy and Spiritual Care Volunteers
The Chaplaincy and Spiritual Care Program is separate from the Piedmont Walton’s Auxiliary / Volunteer Program. Chaplaincy and spiritual care are available at Piedmont Walton for people of all faiths and to those with no religious affiliation. Volunteer chaplains serve as members of the healthcare team working closely with nurses, physicians, social workers and others. Chaplaincy services include emergency and referral-based spiritual care for patients, their families, and hospital staff. Parties interested in applying for the program should review this document of important information before completing an application.
Becoming a New Chaplain at Piedmont Walton
All of our chaplains serve the hospital on an on-call basis.
Once an application is completed, requirements include an interview and orientation, as well as a background check, tuberculosis screenings, drug screening, a flu shot during flu season and a COVID vaccination.
