Piedmont Columbus Regional Volunteers

Piedmont Columbus Regional offers numerous volunteer opportunities, including in the Emergency Trauma Center at Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown Campus, the John B. Amos Cancer Center and Piedmont Columbus Regional Northside Campus.

We have three different programs. Our Summer Youth Program (for ages 14-18), our TAPS program (college aged and short term volunteers, and the Auxiliary (long-term commitment) are ready to welcome you with open arms into the wonderful world of volunteering!

Youth Volunteer Program

For six weeks during the summer, youths from ages 14-18 may participate in the Columbus Regional Auxiliary Youth Volunteer program. Because their duties require the same dedication and commitment as adult volunteers, these youth volunteers are carefully selected. Applications are available online and in the Auxiliary office from January to April 1. April 1 is the deadline for applications. The program, which runs from June to mid-July, is designed for responsible, mature teens who want to help others and explore a health career.

This summer, each volunteer accepted into our program must commit to two weeks (ten consecutive business days) at our hospital. During that time, students will experience three different placements, including some non-clinical areas. The hours each day are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., so each student will accrue 60 hours of volunteer time during their program. At this time, students are not able to apply for more than one rotation. The schedule is as follows:

  • 1st rotation: June 4-June 15
  • 2nd rotation: June 18-June 29
  • 3rd rotation: July 9-July 20

In addition to this enhanced experience, we have developed the Simply Better Youth Career Day, and all Youth Volunteers are required to attend. This one-time event on June 1 will include speakers from PCR Research Institute, the Stroke Center, and an afternoon career fair in the Conference Center with action stations from many different departments throughout the hospital.

Important Dates:

May 31 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and June 1 from 8.45 a.m.-2 p.m.
Mandatory, Orientation and Career Day for Returning and New Volunteers
