Volunteer Opportunities at Piedmont Columbus Regional
Piedmont Columbus Regional offers numerous volunteer opportunities, including in the Emergency Trauma Center at Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown Campus, the John B. Amos Cancer Center and Piedmont Columbus Regional Northside Campus.
We have three different programs.
- Summer Youth Program (for ages 14-18)
- TAPS program (college-aged and short-term volunteers)
- Auxiliary (long-term commitment)
We're ready to welcome you with open arms into the wonderful world of volunteering!
Youth Volunteer Program
Thank you for your interest in participating in the Piedmont Columbus Regional Auxiliary Youth Volunteer program. The Auxiliary has been sponsoring a Youth Volunteer Program for over 55 years. Our goal is to attract and retain Youth Volunteers, ages 14-18, who are passionately pursuing careers in healthcare. Piedmont Columbus Regional Auxiliary strives to stimulate and engage young adults who are planning to join the healthcare field in the future.
This summer, each volunteer accepted into our program must commit to 3 weeks from June 5th through June 23rd. The hours each day are 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., each student will accrue up to 36 hours of volunteer time.
THERE ARE NO EVENING, WEEKEND, OR MAKE UP SHIFTS. Please consider carefully whether this time commitment will fit in with any family vacations, sports commitments, work schedule or any other obligations you may have.
We want our students to have a strong idea of all the different careers that are available in healthcare. During the program, students will experience two different placements, including some non-clinical areas.
The application is for the potential Youth Volunteer to complete. After the deadline, applications will be reviewed, and invitations for interviews will be issued to selected candidates via youth volunteer’s email given on the application.
Your application must contain the following in PDF FORMAT ONLY:
- Completed application signed by youth volunteer and parent/guardian
- 200-word essay that answers the following questions:
- Why are you interested in healthcare?
- Why should we select you as a volunteer?

- Flu shot verification record (must be less than 12 months old) - no exemptions
