Volunteer at Piedmont Augusta

Volunteer Services

Your time is a valuable resource with the incredible potential to help others. How would you like to make a personal investment of your time in a place that makes a difference in our community? Hundreds of men and women of all ages have found fulfilling volunteer positions and have provided much-needed services at Piedmont Augusta since 1949. Piedmont is blessed with an amazing group of volunteers. Annually, volunteers donate more than 35,000 hours of service in over 30 hospital departments and donate to hospital programs, equipment, and initiatives. Whether assisting departments that support patient care or being involved in fundraising efforts, Piedmont Augusta volunteers impact our community. Their efforts are priceless.

Volunteer Board

Piedmont Augusta certainly could not offer the same level of service to patients and their families without the support in hours and dollars of our Volunteer Board. The Volunteer Board of Piedmont Augusta is an organization that provides Piedmont Augusta with volunteer service; funds, which are raised through in-house businesses and fundraising events; and promoting Piedmont Augusta to the communities our hospital serves. Since 1949, the Volunteer Board of Piedmont Augusta has contributed more than $10 million to the hospital.

College Volunteers

College students enrolled in a local university or college are welcome to apply. Continuing Education students who need volunteer hours for higher education applications may also apply. Participation in the program requires a program fee of $40, which covers the cost of your background check. College/Continuing Education Volunteers must purchase a College Volunteer uniform t-shirt from the Uniform Shop. Approximate onboarding schedule for College/Continuing Education Volunteers:

  • Spring Semesters: onboarding in December and/or January
  • Summer Semesters: onboarding in April and/or May
  • Fall Semesters: onboarding in August

Junior Volunteers

The mission of the Piedmont Augusta Junior Volunteer Program is to deliver high-quality services to the hospital, its patients, and its visitors, and to engage in community activities consistent with the hospital's goals and objectives.

Piedmont Augusta's Junior Volunteer Program offers teen volunteers the opportunity to learn and demonstrate compassion for others while gaining experience supporting staff, patients, and families in a hospital setting. The program allows teens to observe a hospital work environment first-hand and envision their own career path.

Our program is open to rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors* who are at least 14 years old by June 1 and no older than 18 years old. The application period opens each year in February. Since the annual program begins in early summer, interviews are held in March, with orientation taking place in late May or early June.

Junior Volunteers are expected to serve 42 clinical and/or nonclinical volunteer hours over a minimum of five weeks during our six-week program. Once selected, Junior Volunteers are required to provide up-to-date immunization records and meet all Piedmont Employee Health requirements, including current tuberculosis screening(s).
