Transitional Year Conferences in Macon

 

  • Journal Club (Once a month)
    Over the course of the year, each resident will present one journal club during which they will present the findings of and lead an in-depth discussion of a journal article of their choosing.
     
  • Board Review (Once a month)
    Generally, this is presented in a “quiz show” format with resident teams competing against each other to answer board review questions in order to prepare for USMLE Step 3 or COMPLEX Level 3.

     
  • Patient Safety (Monthly)
    This review of recent sentinel events within the hospital occurs in a live audience format where residents participate in a live root cause analysis and generate ideas to improve the system.

     
  • Noon Conference
    Sponsored by Internal Medicine, attendance by transitional year residents is required when on medicine rotations and encouraged while on electives. Recurring sessions where faculty and residents prepare topics within the ABIM content specifications to enhance the medical knowledge of colleagues.

     
  • Morning Report
    Sponsored by Internal Medicine, attendance by transitional year residents is required when on medicine rotations and encouraged when possible while on electives. Recurring session where each inpatient team is responsible for presenting a recently admitted case. Focus is made on the diagnosis and management of the patient with time spent on the underlying concepts within ABIM content and practice guidelines.
