Transplant Program Updates

Kidney and Pancreas Transplant Program Updates

  • As Piedmont Healthcare opens back up, services and testing sites such as non-urgent radiology centers will begin seeing patients. Please contact your coordinator to see if/when your testing appointment can be scheduled.
  • For re-evaluation visits, we have continued re-evaluation virtual visits with a goal of keeping patients active on the list when deceased donor transplants become available. We expect to be resuming normal re-evaluation visits in the clinic during the month of May.
  • For patients within the first three months post-transplant, we are seeing in clinic when necessary and transitioning to virtual visits if appropriate. Please contact your coordinator to see if your visit should be performed virtually.

Liver Transplant Program Updates

  • We have continued to schedule and evaluate all new patients for liver transplant. We offer both in person and visits via our robust virtual visit platform using EPIC MyChart.
  • Immediate post-transplant follow-up visits will be evaluated in clinic using appropriate PPE and social distancing practices. Virtual visits will be utilized for stable liver transplant patients who are further out from transplant as deemed appropriate by the liver transplant team.

If you have COVID-19 symptoms, please stay home and book a virtual visit with a Piedmont provider at piedmont.org/virtualvisit to see if you meet the criteria for COVID-19 testing. If you have emergency warning signs, seek care immediately. For ongoing updates and information on protecting yourself, visit piedmont.org/coronavirus.
