Better quality of life

A kidney transplant can eliminate the inconveniences and risks that can come with long-term dialysis.
Effective July 1, 2025, Piedmont Transplant Institute will be participating in the Increasing Organ Transplant Access (IOTA) initiative. This CMS initiative will not impact your clinical care. For more information and to better understand patient rights as part of this initiative, click here.

Living with a kidney transplant is a lifelong commitment. Frequent visits and contact with our transplant team are essential. Our team is dedicated to providing you with support every step of the way so you can focus on rehabilitation and recovery.

Our program highlights include:

  • National recognition: Piedmont is a donor center of excellence with the National Kidney Registry.
  • Convenient locations: Piedmont Transplant Institute in Atlanta offers kidney transplantation for patients with serious kidney dysfunction and those requiring dialysis for survival. We have satellite offices in Macon, Dalton, Albany and Savannah for convenient pre- and post-transplant care close to home.
  • Commitment to paired donation: Piedmont Transplant Institute is committed to connecting pairs of donors and recipients across the country to ensure no donor goes unmatched and to promote optimal outcomes.
  • Minimally invasive surgery for donors: Robotic live-donor kidney transplant in Georgia is an ongoing option to help living donors decrease the length of in-hospital, post-operative recovery.
  • Extensive surgical training: Our transplant surgeons are trained in multiple surgical techniques to safely perform donor nephrectomy, such as robotic, total laparoscopic and single port platforms.
  • Kidney support group: We offer support group sessions at our Piedmont Atlanta campus to empower participants to have successful outcomes and quality support throughout their transplant journey.
