Frequently Asked Questions
Why choose Piedmont VIP when I already have a primary care physician?
Piedmont VIP is a concierge-level service for patients who want access to their primary care physician around-the-clock. Your physician will be available to support you however you need, from prescription refills and appointments, to addressing concerns or questions.
How does my insurance work with Piedmont VIP?
Your Piedmont VIP physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits. The annual fee is not covered through insurance.
Are Medicare patients eligible?
Yes, Medicare patients are eligible for this program, and we will continue to bill Medicare for all covered services. This means that your Medicare co-pays, deductibles, and co-insurance will still apply.
Where are my appointments and testing performed?
Appointments will take place at Dr. Andy Brown's office, located in the 105 Building on the Piedmont Atlanta Hospital campus. Valet parking will be validated and included in your annual fee. Any testing deemed necessary by Dr. Brown and covered by your insurance plan will be performed at the PAH campus, or at a location deemed most convenient by you and Dr. Brown or as required by your insurance plan.
What are the services included that are part of the Concierge program?
As a member of our Piedmont VIP program, you will receive 24/7 access to your physician by phone, video, or chat. You will receive extended time with your physician during an expanded Annual Wellness+ Physical that is centered around you, as well as one nutrition or fitness consult at no additional charge. You’ll be able to quickly access your prescription refills, request labs, tests, vaccines, and schedule appointments to discuss future and current care coordination of your health journey.
Do I need to pay the annual fee all at once?
The annual fee will be paid in one lump sum to initiate membership. HSA/FSA is not a valid payment method for the annual membership fee.
Is my annual fee tax deductible?
Possibly, if you itemize expenses on your tax return and have unreimbursed medical care expenses that exceed a certain percentage of your income. We recommend consulting your tax advisor.
Can I use my FSA or HSA to pay the enrollment fee?
No. Flexible Spending Accounts only cover costs directly related to a qualified medical service that has been provided. The membership fee covers an exceptionally high level of personal customer service, access to your Piedmont primary care physician 24 hours a day/7 days a week, and coordination of specialist care as needed, so it is not eligible. Medical services provided by your Piedmont VIP doctor or Piedmont specialists can be paid for from your FSA account.
Can I get a refund if I want to cancel my membership?
If you terminate your Agreement more than 30 days after your first visit (in-person or virtual) with your Physician in that term year, you will be responsible for the entirety of the Membership Fee and will not be eligible for a refund.
Does this program include a family plan?
Piedmont VIP is geared towards adults at this time. If your spouse/partner wishes to join, the membership fee will be discounted by 20% for a second adult in your family. For any adult children (18-25 years old), your membership fee also includes prioritized scheduling of acute or urgent care visits with your physician. Piedmont will then bill your child’s insurance and charge any applicable copay, co-insurance and/or deductible for the visit.
What happens when my doctor is away on vacation or unavailable?
Your doctor will notify you when he is out of the office or unavailable and will be covered by another exceptional Piedmont Physician. You will receive contact information from the covering physician as needed, and he/she will respond to patient messages while your doctor is away.
What if I need specialty care?
When medically appropriate, your doctor will help you find the specialist for you and ensure that a referral is placed to help you coordinate your care. Piedmont is the largest network in the State of Georgia, and your Piedmont VIP physician will help facilitate specialty care coordination.
