Piedmont Healthcare was reviewed by Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education™ and awarded accreditation for four years as a provider of interprofessional continuing education (IPCE) by and for the healthcare team. Piedmont is one of 170 organizations nationally with this accreditation and is one of two Joint Accredited providers in the state of Georgia.

Continuing professional education is required for re-licensure, re-certification, and re-credentialing for professional staff and ensures that we are delivering the highest quality patient care. Piedmont is leading the way to ensuring that we offer the highest quality education for the members of our healthcare team. We are the only health system in the state accredited to offer education to physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other members of the healthcare team through a single application, review, and approval process. It speaks to Piedmont’s commitment to changing the way we deliver care by changing the way we deliver education.

Joint Accreditation ensures that continuing education for healthcare teams improve the quality and safety of care delivered. Accredited education is designed to be independent and free from the influence of pharmaceutical manufacturers and other industry companies.

Interprofessional continuing education activities now follow one set of accreditation standards rather than multiple standards to award continuing education for physicians, nurses, and pharmacists as well as other members of the healthcare team including social workers, athletic trainers, dietitians, PAs, and psychologists.
