Volunteer at Piedmont Rockdale

Overview
Piedmont Rockdale has an active group of Auxiliary and Pastoral Care volunteers providing vital services to our patients and visitors. Please share your time and talents and help make a difference to the patients in our community.
Volunteen program
A volunteen is a high school student who serves Piedmont Rockdale Hospital without a salary. This program is for students who attend or have just graduated high school (summer program only). Each student will be accountable to the director of community relations and the charge nurse of the department you work in.
The objective is to provide an educational experience in a hospital setting, giving you a chance to see healthcare professionals in action. While spending time in one of the departments at the hospital, you may find your passion, or you may discover that this kind of occupation is not what you thought it would be. Either way, it’s good to have the experience which will allow you to start making plans for your future career path.
Only students 16 years of age and older from any school or home school program are urged to apply.
Applications will be accepted from March 1st to April 10th, 2026.
College
The College Volunteer program allows students to learn more about the different healthcare careers needed to provide care to patients in both the hospital and outpatient settings. The college volunteer program is a flexible way to be involved in your community while attending classes or during breaks in the school year.
2026 Dates
- Summer and Winter Breaks: June 15 – August 14 and December 12 – January 9, 2027; Applications due by May 15
- Fall and Spring: Begins September 14; Applications due by August 21
Piedmont Rockdale Auxiliary
A vital part of the Piedmont Rockdale family is our Auxiliary. This group of more than 100 volunteers donates thousands of hours each year. They assist the hospital in many ways, including: welcoming visitors at our information desks, delivering flowers and mail, volunteering at our blood drives, providing clerical support and more.

Pastoral care and spiritual care
Pastoral Care is available to people of all faiths and to those with no religious affiliation. Volunteer chaplains serve as members of the healthcare team working closely with nurses, physicians, social workers and others for you and your family. Chaplaincy services include emergency and referral-based spiritual care for patients, their families, and hospital staff. Emergency coverage is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
To reach a Chaplain, dial “0” and ask the operator to contact the on-call Chaplain for you.
