VolunTeens at Piedmont Rockdale

Overview
A VolunTeen is a high school student who willingly offers their time, energy and services to Piedmont Rockdale without receiving pay or expecting a material reward. This is an educational experience in a hospital setting, offering an opportunity to see healthcare professionals in action.
Eligibility
- New VolunTeens should be at least 15 years old by orientation day.
- Be able to volunteer for 32 hours. This is achieved by working one (1), four (4)-hour shift each week for eight (8) weeks. You will be allowed to make up missing hours due to family vacations, driver’s education, sports and school events, church activities, etc.
- Have at least a “B” average in all studies.
- Provide a copy of your unofficial high school transcript, showing your cumulative weighted GPA.
- Return a completed application.
- Ensure two (2) letters of recommendation are submitted on your behalf by nonrelatives.
Accepted applicants will be required to:
- Attend the orientation session.
- Attend their first week of the program.
- Select the day and timeslot which works best for their schedule, Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Each volunteer shift is four (4) hours long.
- Report promptly to their service area on the assigned day and time. If you are unable to work as scheduled, please notify the program director by email at Darlena.Pegues-Blair@piedmont.org.
An interview with VolunTeen committee members is required. A parent/guardian must attend the interview with the student. Interviews will take place on Saturday, April 18.
Lunch will be provided before or after the volunteer shift and at Lunch & Learns.

- Summer program begins – Week of June 1
- Summer program ends – Friday, July 24
- Lunch & Learns – optional to attend – Every Wednesday, 12 p.m. in the Private Dining Room, located in the cafeteria

- July 22 – Resume Writing & certificate presentation
