Chaplains at Piedmont Rockdale

Overview

Piedmont Rockdale is honored to welcome members of our faith-based community to volunteer their time as a chaplain.

Chaplains will onboard three times a year at Chaplain Trimester meetings. These meetings are held on the second Thursday of August, December and April at 8:30 a.m.

There are two paths in Piedmont Rockdale’s Chaplain program.

  • A volunteer chaplain is a member of the faith-based community who visits hospital patients.
  • A Chaplain Resident serves as a volunteer chaplain and also attends classes to earn Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits towards a clinical pastoral education certification.
    • Piedmont Rockdale offers scholarships to these Residents for their education in exchange, for serving as a volunteer chaplain.

You will receive a call soon after you complete your background check to discuss your credentials and desires to serve.

In addition to meeting the rest of the chaplain team, a new chaplain can expect the following at each onboarding event.

  • Meet with Employee Health to confirm immunity to measles, mumps and rubella as well as varicella (chickenpox) and tuberculosis (TB).
  • Take a photo for your badge.
  • Receive required training.
  • Receive your chaplain uniform shirt.
