Sherron Berg Early Detection Pancreatic Cancer Program

Overview
At Piedmont Oncology, we bring more cures to Georgians with pancreatic cancer through increased screening, community awareness, and access to research. As the first and only early detection clinic in Georgia dedicated to pancreatic cancer, we work to identify high-risk patients and families so we can detect cancer earlier.
Who May Benefit:
- Individuals with a family history of pancreatic cancer, especially in a close relative or multiple family members
- Carriers of a gene mutation linked to an increased risk for pancreatic cancer, such as ATM, BRCA1, BRCA2, CDKN2A, PALB2, or Lynch syndrome
- Individuals concerned about their risk of developing pancreatic cancer
Why Piedmont
Schedule your appointment
The Early Detection Pancreatic Cancer Clinic offers both telehealth and in person appointments.
- At a telehealth appointment patients may meet with either our advanced practice provider or genetic counselor. If patients are eligible for additional services, additional appointments and follow-up can be coordinated.
- In-person appointments are offered with a multidisciplinary approach, where patients will have the opportunity to meet with pancreas advanced practice provider, genetic counselor, and/or clinical research coordinator all in one visit.
Pancreas specialist appointments with our advanced practice provider include review of personal risk factors, family history, and imaging, as well as risk assessment and creation of a tailored follow-up plan including imaging and/or blood-work for patients identified as being at increased risk.
Genetic counseling appointments include review of family history and any prior genetic testing results, discussion of current risks or management recommendations, genetic risk assessment, and coordination of genetic testing if applicable.
Our clinical research coordinator will assess eligibility for current research opportunities, answer questions about research, and enroll eligible patients.
