Piedmont Osteoporosis & Bone Health Center

At Piedmont Osteoporosis & Bone Health Center, we use a collaborative team approach to provide comprehensive bone care. With the help of Piedmont Orthopedics, Endocrinology, physical therapists and our hospitalists, we provide treatment for osteopenia, osteoporosis and post fracture conditions. Our providers have undergone extensive training in managing bone health and deliver outstanding treatment and preventive therapy to minimize complications resulting from bone disease and recurrent fractures.

With on-site access to x-ray, DEXA scan and an infusion suite, we base your personalized treatment recommendations on individual bone density, laboratory testing and comprehensive evaluations.

Osteoporosis can lead to bone abnormalities that put you at increased risk for fractures. This can adversely affect your activity of daily living (ADLs), quality of life and may lead to early risk of death.

We are available to consult with those individuals who meet the following criteria:

  • All women over age 65 or men over age 70 who have not previously been screened with a DEXA scan
  • Patients who have had a DEXA scan indicating osteopenia or osteoporosis
  • Patients of any age with:
    • Steroid use longer than 3 months
    • Diabetes
    • Hyperparathyroidism / hyperthyroid
