Patient-centered care

Rheumatology expertise

Advanced treatments
Rheumatic and autoimmune conditions, such as arthritis, lupus, osteoporosis and scleroderma, can significantly impact your quality of life. With this in mind, we take a holistic, patient-centered approach to your care.
Many of the conditions we treat require ongoing management and treatment. It’s our mission to provide comfortable, supportive care so you can feel as healthy as possible.
Comprehensive rheumatic and autoimmune disease treatment options
Our infusion center at Piedmont West provides a pleasant and comforting environment for patients who require infusion therapy.
We perform joint injections and aspiration in the office. We also use other tools, such as diagnostic imaging, including musculoskeletal ultrasound in the office, X-ray and MRI, to aid in diagnosing and treating patients.
Since medication may not always be the best option, we also incorporate physical therapy and occupational therapy when appropriate.
Piedmont Osteoporosis and Bone Health Center
The Piedmont Osteoporosis and Bone Health Center employs a team approach to deliver comprehensive bone care. With the help of Piedmont orthopedic specialists, endocrinologists, physical therapists and hospitalists, we provide treatment for osteopenia, osteoporosis and post-fracture conditions.
Our providers have undergone extensive training in managing bone health and deliver outstanding treatment and preventive therapy to minimize complications resulting from bone disease and recurrent fractures.
With on-site access to X-rays, DEXA (bone density) scans and an infusion suite, we base your personalized treatment recommendations on individual bone density, laboratory testing and comprehensive evaluations.
Osteoporosis can lead to bone abnormalities that put you at increased risk for fractures. This can adversely affect your daily life activities and quality of life, and may lead to an early risk of death.
We are available to consult with individuals who meet the following criteria:
- All women over age 65 or men over age 70 who have not previously been screened with a DEXA scan
- Patients who have had a DEXA scan indicating osteopenia or osteoporosis
- Patients of any age with:
- Steroid use longer than 3 months
- Diabetes
- Hyperparathyroidism / hyperthyroid
- Low trauma or fragility fracture (fracture that occurs from a standing height or less)
- GI malabsorption (i.e., celiac disease)
- Vitamin D deficiency
- Renal or liver disease
- Hereditary hemochromatosis
- HIV infection or HIV medication use
