Piedmont Rockdale Visitor Information

Care Partner Policy (Updated March 22, 2022)

Effective March 22, 2022, inpatient visitation hours are from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Building A closes daily at 7 p.m.

In response to the COVID-19 sustained community transmission, visitation to Piedmont Rockdale Hospital is restricted. For patient comfort and assistance, two (2) care partners (i.e. a family member or caregiver) are permitted as follows:

  • Two (2) persons are permitted as a visitor for an Emergency Department patient’s visit.
  • Two (2) persons are permitted as a visitor for procedures, surgery, critical/end-of-life, legal guardians and to accompany patients requiring assistance in navigating their visit for the inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Labor & Delivery and Family Care Center patients will be allowed two (2) care partners/visitors.
  • NICU patients are allowed both parents for visitation.
  • No visitors are allowed for COVID-19 positive patients or a patient under investigation.
  • For most units, there are no age restrictions for visitors, although a minor does “count” toward the total number of permitted visitors. There is one exception: The Women’s Services, Labor & Delivery and Special Care Nursery Departments do not permit minors.
  • When needed, a visitor may "swap out" to allow for another person to visit.

Safety guidelines for essential support persons:

  • All care partners must wear a surgical or medical (e.g. KN95, N95) mask at all times when in the facility. Cloth masks will no longer be an option for patients, visitors or staff.
  • All care partners should follow respiratory hygiene and cough etiquette precautions.
  • Any person who has an increased risk from chronic conditions or comorbidities is advised not to visit and to instead use virtual means to connect with their loved one in the hospital.
  • Visitors are expected to exit the patient’s room while aerosol- generating procedures are in progress, due to the increased risk at this time.
  • Limit and monitor points of entry to the facility
  • Screen all patients and visitors and other non-employees entering the setting
  • Use of hygiene stations

All workforce will self-monitor for illness prior to start of workday.

Please understand that the decision to limit visitation to any of our patients was not made lightly. We strive to consistently deliver the safest, highest quality, patient-centered care and services to the community we are blessed to serve. We are committed to treating our patients and their visitors with the care and compassion that we would want for ourselves.
