The health benefits of bay leaves

Bay leaves are packed with powerful health benefits. They can improve insulin levels for people with diabetes, serve as a remedy for heartburn and help prevent heart disease.

Chef Nancy Waldeck shares an easy bay leaf recipe that will help spice up your black beans.

Black beans with bay leaves

  • Pour the black beans in an oven-safe baking dish.
  • Put the bay leaf in the beans.
  • Add garlic and a little salt.  
  • Add water, covering about 2 inches above the beans.
  • Place the baking dish in a 350 degree oven for about two hours.
  • Enjoy beautiful black baked beans!
