We will establish a personalized treatment program to address pain, tightness and scar tissue that may be limiting your mobility. Our goal is to help you return to the exercise and activities you enjoyed before your diagnosis, without restrictions or fear.

Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation

There are numerous side effects that may occur with treatment for bladder, gynecological, prostate and colorectal cancers. Our pelvic floor therapists are here to help you with:

  • Urinary incontinence or frequency and urgency issues
  • Fecal incontinence or constipation
  • Pelvic pain, spasms or tightness from radiation

Physical Therapy

After treatment, it is not unusual to lose your ability to do the things you want and need to do. Our physical therapists address a wide range of issues including pain, numbness, tingling, weakness, tightness and scar tissue.  They are also here to help address walking and balance issues and improve your ability to lift, carry and bend.

Speech Therapy

Our team of speech language pathologists address difficulties often caused by cancers of the head, neck and brain by providing diagnostic evaluation and treatment of speech and swallowing disorders. They have special expertise in treatment for oral cavity and pharyngeal cancers as well as rehabilitation of cognitive communication disorders.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapists focus on function.  They will help you take better care of yourself, addressing your ability to feed, bathe and dress yourself, as well as perform daily household chores and care for others.  Issues with shopping, driving and working are also addressed. Our therapists may recommend special adaptive equipment that will empower you to become more independent.

Lymphedema Program

Lymphedema is caused by a dysfunction of the lymphatic system, which may have been disrupted in the treatment of cancer. Surgical removal of lymph nodes, radiation and repeated infections are high risk factors for developing lymphedema.  Our therapists are here to help with treatment for lymphedema, which consists of education, manual lymph drainage, skin care, compression and exercise.

Cancer patients who are at risk for lymphedema may also benefit from wearing compression garments. We offer both custom and ready-to-wear garments fitted by specialists.
