Wound care and oxygen chamber services

Medical name: Wound care and hyperbaric medicine

Overview

The human body has a remarkable ability to heal. However, sometimes wounds will not heal on their own. People of all ages can suffer from non-healing wounds, especially those with diabetes, an infection, poor circulation or other issues that make it hard to heal and recover.

Oxygen chamber therapy

Oxygen chamber therapy, also called hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), is an adjunctive treatment where you breathe 100% oxygen while enclosed in a pressurized chamber at a pressure greater than normal atmospheric pressure. While breathing pure oxygen, your blood plasma becomes saturated, carrying 15 to 20 times the normal amount of oxygen to the body’s tissues.

Hyperbaric therapy is well known for its use in underwater diving accidents, but it also has beneficial healing effects for other approved medical conditions.

Our hyperbaric medicine doctors work closely with your primary care provider to coordinate care that meets your needs. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy must be used in conjunction with a total care program, including good nutrition and daily wound care, to achieve optimum healing results.
