Overview

The loss of a child is the most difficult thing parents ever face. No matter where you were in your life with your child - pregnancy, delivery or the first weeks and months after delivery - the death of your baby has changed your life forever. Piedmont offers our deepest sympathy to you in this difficult time. There are no words that can assuage your pain and grief. What we offer to you in this section is support and resources for your journey.

Piedmont Athens offers hospital resources to help both while you are in the hospital and after you are home:

  • Annual memorial services
Our annual Pregnancy and Infant Loss Memorial is held the second Tuesday of October at the Griffin-Dubose Healing Lodge. Our Women’s Services and Spiritual Care services welcome families who have experienced the loss of an infant. We honor their precious lives with an evening of fellowship, light refreshments, candle lighting and a guest speaker. Regardless of your baby’s gestational age, we at Piedmont Athens Regional believe every baby’s life and story should be heard.
  • Support services
The pain of a pregnancy loss or the loss of an infant does not have to be suffered in silence. Piedmont Athens recommends a number of support groups and services that offer healing for you and your family.
  • Rachel’s Gift
Online Zoom meetings every Thursday at 7 p.m.
Men’s online group: Second Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m.
Couple’s online group: Fourth Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m.
