High-risk telemedicine
Overview
If your pregnancy is considered "high-risk," our telemedicine program can connect you virtually with a maternal-fetal medicine provider who specializes in caring for high-risk pregnancies.
Why Piedmont

Prenatal care from anywhere

Secure communication

Live ultrasound feedback
If your pregnancy becomes what physicians call "high risk," whether due to your age, expecting multiples or a medical condition, getting specialized care is extremely important. Fortunately, our team at Piedmont can virtually connect you with the right physician, a perinatologist. Perinatologists specialize in maternal-fetal medicine, also known as high-risk pregnancy care.
How does maternal-fetal telemedicine work?
Maternal-fetal telemedicine (MFT) uses technology to exchange medical information and provide medical services electronically. Our ultimate goal is to allow you to receive prenatal care from the comfort of home.
We facilitate communication between you and your specialist through a secure, high-speed telecommunications platform. You and your doctor will be able to see and speak to each other.
A MFT consultation may include live ultrasound imaging performed in person by a certified ultrasonographer. This allows your perinatologist to walk you through what they see on your ultrasound.
