Overview

The Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown Graduate Medical Education (GME) Department trains the next generation of physicians. The department is deeply committed to promoting the health and healing of our patients and communities and to consistently deliver the right care, in the right place, at the right time. These goals build upon Piedmont Healthcare's core mission to make a positive difference in every life they touch.

The GME program at the Midtown campus was established in 1972 with the Family Medicine Residency. It has since grown to sponsor a Sports Medicine Fellowship partnering with the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine at Auburn University (VCOM-Auburn). Additionally, the campus offers a pharmacy residency program. As a teaching hospital, these programs provide hands-on clinical experience. Residents and fellows train in programs built to meet the evolving needs of healthcare.

Our residency and fellowship programs are designed in accordance with the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) guidelines. An ACGME-accredited program signifies that our training meets the highest national standards for clinical learning environments, patient safety, and medical professionalism.
