COVID-19: Giving Back

Woman making a heart symbol with her hands
We are extremely appreciative of the outpouring of support from all over Georgia in wanting to help our heroic healthcare professionals and contribute to keeping them and our patients safe.

If you have COVID-19 symptoms, please stay home and book a Virtual Visit with a Piedmont provider at to see if you meet the criteria for COVID-19 testing. If you have emergency warning signs, seek medical care immediately.

How to Help

In these stressful and uncertain times, we want to say thank you in advance for asking how you can help. As a non-profit healthcare system, we need you and your support. We are so profoundly grateful you have taken the time to reach out.

You can help in four different ways:

Cloth Mask Donations for Patients

Piedmont will accept donated cloth masks to use with patients who enter our emergency departments with respiratory symptoms when they are placed in the COVID -19 rule out group. The goal of the patient mask is to control secretions from the patient, which a cloth mask would accomplish. The patient would keep the cloth mask until leaving the emergency room or is discharged from our facilities. Having these donated masks available would help Piedmont save surgical/procedural masks to use on providers and clinicians instead.

Linked here is one pattern that is suitable for patient masks. In addition, the specifications for patient cloth masks are fairly broad, so patterns that have been shared on the internet are also appropriate.

  • Masks for Provider/Clinician Future Use
While there are masks that can be manufactured with a specific type of material that would allow them to be appropriate for clinical use, this process is being handled directly with the groups equipped to produce them.
  • When Masks are Ready to be Donated
When you have items to donate, contact and we’ll let you know the  closest drop off location based on where you are.
