Notice of Recruitment Scams

Piedmont is aware of recruitment scams, nationwide, where individuals receive fraudulent employment-related offers in exchange for money or other sensitive personal information.  Further, we are aware that some of these scammers have posed as Piedmont recruiters. Please be aware of any suspicious emails or communications from people claiming to be representatives of Piedmont.

While Piedmont recruiters may use text messaging or job board messaging tools (on sites such as LinkedIn, Indeed, etc.) to contact individuals/candidates, Piedmont will never:

  • Ask for money or request credit card/banking information during the recruitment or hiring process
  • Ask candidates to purchase equipment prior to being hired with the promise of reimbursement
  • Send email from a free, web-based email account such as Yahoo.com, Gmail.com, etc. We will only send email from a @Piedmont.org email address (example Mary.smith@piedmont.org)

Do not disclose financial or personal details to anyone you do not know or continue to engage in communications you believe may be fraudulent. If you believe you may have been targeted in this scam, contact your local law enforcement.
