Columbus, Ga. (July 10, 2026) - Piedmont Columbus Regional is proudly partnering with The Food Mill on a “Food is Health” program for hospital employees.

The partnership comes because of a MyHealth360 hypertension (high blood pressure) campaign Piedmont created in late 2025 to promote the health and wellness of its employees. In the first three months of the program, nearly 70 percent of blood pressure readings were in the elevated range— which if left unmanaged can lead to severe health problems like heart disease, stroke, kidney failure and more.

“At The Food Mill, we believe healthy food is an essential part of healthcare. Food has the power to heal, prevent disease and transform lives," said Food Mill Executive Director Olivia Amos. "This partnership with Piedmont reflects a shared commitment to addressing the root causes of chronic disease by combining access to fresh, locally grown food with practical nutrition education. Together, we're empowering employees to take control of their health, support the well-being of their families and demonstrating what Food is Medicine looks like when healthcare and community organizations work together. We hope it serves as an example of how Food is Medicine can improve health outcomes across our region."

Program participants receive weekly produce vouchers for The Food Mill to support healthy eating habits. The program also includes seven weekly sessions during which employees receive nutritional guidance and monitoring of blood pressure, weight and Body Mass Index (BMI).

This isn’t the only initiative The Food Mill and Piedmont Columbus have partnered together on.

“The Food Mill continues to work with us through our Mobile Unit bus to host pop-up farmer’s markets in the community that help provide fresh fruits and vegetables to our patient population that lacks access to resources whether they’re located at a government housing facility, shelter or senior center,” said Piedmont Columbus Director of Community Relations and Outreach Programs Melonese Close.”
