Pink and powerful: A celebration of strength, screening and survivorship
Athens, Ga. (October 6, 2025) – The Loran Smith Center for Cancer Support and the Piedmont Athens Regional Breast Health Program will host Pink and Powerful, a breast cancer awareness event, from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, at the Piedmont Oconee Health Campus.
The event will promote early detection, celebrate survivors and showcase the comprehensive breast health services available at Piedmont Athens Regional.
Doors open at 4 p.m. Guests can enjoy refreshments, giveaways, and a women’s services fair. Attendees will also have the opportunity to tour the mammography suite and learn about breast imaging technology.
The program begins at 5 p.m. and will feature patient stories and clinical updates from:
- Dr. Karen Zheng, fellowship-trained in breast imaging
- Dr. Katie Moore, breast surgeon
- Dr. Fiona Denham, breast surgical oncologist
Topics will include prevention strategies, early detection, digital mammography, advanced diagnostics, surgical breast care, on-site radiation therapy and chemotherapy, the high-risk breast cancer clinic, the Beautiful You Boutique, and free cancer and wellness support programs.
