Atlanta, Ga. (August 21, 2026) – Jun Kim, MD, recently joined Piedmont Atlanta Brain and Spine as an orthopedic spine surgeon specializing in adult and pediatric deformity, cervical spine, and minimally invasive surgery. Throughout his career, he has been at the forefront of using new technology and teaching the next generation to use it as well.
"Dr. Kim is a great addition to our team and, with his expertise in spinal deformity, our patients stand to benefit enormously from his skills," said Nelson Oyesiku, MD, Chief, Neurosciences at Piedmont. "He has a wealth of experience and will benefit our other physicians as well."
Dr. Kim got his Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University before attending Temple University for medical school. He did his orthopedic surgery residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and completed his adult and pediatric comprehensive spine surgery fellowship at Columbia University’s medical center.
Since 2020, Dr. Kim has served as an assistant professor in the departments of orthopedic surgery and neurosurgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. During this time, he led machine learning research at the school, developing learning techniques to improve imaging and surgical outcomes after spine surgery and building AI-based tools to improve physician workflow.
“Patients who have spinal conditions or injuries can have most areas of their lives negatively impacted,” said Dr. Kim. “Thanks to advances in technology, surgical procedures on the spine can now be minimally invasive, which can help patients recover as quickly and as safely as possible.”
In his spare time, he enjoys soccer, spending time with his wife and children, and fly-fishing.
Dr. Kim welcomes new patients and accepts most major insurance plans.
