
Piedmont Walton welcomes orthopedic surgeon Craig Akoh, M.D.

Monroe, Ga. (June 22, 2026) - Piedmont Walton is pleased to announce that board-certified orthopedic surgeon Craig Akoh, M.D., has joined Piedmont Orthopedic and Sports Medicine at Walton.
Dr. Akoh is a dual fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and foot and ankle surgery. He brings more than five years of experience treating complex orthopedic conditions, with expertise in upper and lower extremity arthroscopy, lower extremity trauma, foot and ankle deformity correction and total ankle replacement.
Dr. Akoh graduated from the University of Georgia before earning his medical degree from Augusta University Medical Center. He went on to complete an orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Iowa before completing his fellowship training in foot and ankle orthopedic surgery at Duke University and sports medicine orthopedic surgery at the University of Wisconsin.
Dr. Akoh is known for his commitment innovative patient-centered care, working collaboratively to achieve the best possible outcomes for each patient. He specializes in advanced arthroscopic procedures in athletes, ligament and cartilage repair, management of traumatic injuries, and restoration of function, helping patients return to peak performance and daily activities. Dr. Akoh cares for patients ages 12 and older, including adolescent, adult and geriatric populations.
