Piedmont Walton Volunteer Auxiliary recognizes service milestones, installs officers

Athens, Ga. (February 10, 2026) - The Piedmont Walton Volunteer Auxiliary continues to make a significant impact on patients, families and staff through thousands of hours of dedicated service.

During the 2024–25 service year, Auxiliary volunteers contributed 4,750 hours, bringing the cumulative total to 54,748 hours contributed by active members through 2025.

The Auxiliary recently held its annual officer installation and service hour recognition ceremony to honor volunteers for their longstanding commitment to the hospital. Those recognized for service milestones included:

  • Gordenia Murdoch: 22,000 hours
  • Stephanie Connelly: 6,000 hours
  • Rita Arnold: 4,500 hours
  • Susanne Dorminey: 1,500 hours
  • Dee McAvo: 500 hours
  • Charlotte Smith, Tami Dye and Margaret Woods: 100 hours

During the ceremony, the Volunteer Auxiliary also installed its executive committee. Officers serving on the committee include:

  • Gordenia Murdoch: president and treasurer
  • Tami Dye: corresponding secretary
  • Carolyn Carter: vice president
  • Alma Thomas: recording secretary
  • Rita Arnold: gift shop manager

The Piedmont Walton Volunteer Auxiliary supports the hospital through patient assistance, fundraising efforts and community engagement, helping enhance the overall care experience for those it serves.
