Piedmont Walton, TeamHealth support YMCA water safety program

Monroe, Ga. (July 17, 2026) — Piedmont Walton Hospital and TeamHealth, the hospital’s Emergency Services provider group, recently donated $1,500 to the Walton County YMCA to support its Summer Water Safety and Drowning Prevention program, an initiative focused on teaching children and adults skills that can help prevent drowning and promote safe behaviors around water.
“Drowning prevention starts with education,” said Tony Bullon, MD, medical director for Emergency Services at Piedmont Walton Hospital. “Programs like the Walton County YMCA’s Safety Around Water initiative help equip children and caregivers with life-saving skills, and we are proud to support this important work.”
The YMCA’s Safety Around Water program provides education to help children become more confident and capable in and around water while learning life-saving skills that reduce the risk of drowning. According to the YMCA, drowning is the second-leading cause of death for children ages 5 to 14, highlighting the importance of water safety education and drowning prevention efforts.
More than 1 million children participate in YMCA swim lessons annually, and program results show improved water safety skills among participants. The donation will help the Walton County YMCA continue providing water safety instruction and education to children and families throughout the community.
Together, Piedmont Walton Hospital and TeamHealth are proud to support initiatives that promote safety and create healthier communities in Walton County.
