Monroe, Ga. (July 2, 2026) – Piedmont Walton Hospital has named Dana Walters, RN, an intensive care unit nurse, as its Promise 360 Annual Champion, recognizing her extraordinary compassion, leadership and commitment to supporting others during a time of profound need.

Walters was selected from among the hospital's fiscal year 2026 Promise 360 honorees for her efforts to support a fellow Piedmont Walton team member, Glenn, and his family during his final weeks in hospice care.

After Glenn became seriously ill, Walters coordinated volunteers from the ICU team to assist his wife, Chika Denton, with caregiving responsibilities at home. She also served as the primary point of communication between the family and the ICU staff, ensuring colleagues remained informed while providing ongoing emotional support to Glenn's loved ones.

"Dana truly exemplifies teamwork and patient-centered care," her nomination stated. "She played a key role in coordinating support for Glenn and his family during an incredibly difficult time. Her kindness, compassion and dedication truly made a meaningful difference."

A highlight of the annual Promise 360 celebration came when Denton surprised Walters by stepping forward to announce her as the annual champion. During the presentation, Denton shared her gratitude and offered heartfelt reflections on the profound impact Walters had on her family during one of the most challenging periods of their lives.

"Acts of compassion often leave the greatest and most lasting impact," said Blake Watts, CEO at Piedmont Walton. "Dana's selfless support of a co-worker and his family reflects the very best of Piedmont Walton and demonstrates what it means to care for others beyond the bedside."

The Promise 360 program recognizes team members who make a positive difference in the lives of patients, families, co-workers and the community while exemplifying Piedmont's values. Throughout the year, employees are nominated for acts that champion patient-centered care, exemplify teamwork and connections, demonstrate ownership and embrace the future. Monthly honorees are recognized, and annual spotlight recipients and a champion are selected from among those nominees.

Piedmont Walton congratulates all fiscal year 2026 Promise 360 honorees for their dedication, compassion and service. Their actions represent the organization's commitment to delivering exceptional care and supporting one another both inside and outside the hospital.
