Piedmont Walton Hospital hosts open house for nursing students and recent graduates

Monroe, Ga. (October 22, 2026) -- Piedmont Walton Hospital will host a Nursing Open House on Wednesday, November 18, to introduce nursing students and recent nursing school graduates to career and educational opportunities available within Piedmont and provide insight into the transition from classroom learning to professional nursing practice.

Hosted by Piedmont Walton's Clinical Learning and Development team, the event will give nurse leaders, educators, recruiters, nurse residents, and clinical experts a chance to showcase the hospital's inpatient units and discuss the clinical and professional experiences available to future nurses.

The open house is designed to help attendees learn more about career pathways within Piedmont and get an introduction to Piedmont’s Transition to Practice Nurse Residency Program.

"Supporting the next generation of nurses is an important part of our mission," said Catherine Palmer, nurse residency coordinator at Piedmont Walton Hospital. "This open house gives nursing students the opportunity to connect directly with experienced nurses, educators and recruiters while learning how Piedmont Walton can support them as they begin their healthcare careers."

The event will begin with a presentation from 10 to 11:30 a.m., followed by a hospital tour from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Students will have the opportunity to meet members of Piedmont Walton’s nursing leadership team, learn about specialty areas throughout the hospital and ask questions about residency, education, and employment opportunities.

The presentation will also be offered via a Teams webinar for those who cannot attend in person. Space for the on-site presentation is limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. A Teams link will be provided to registered participants who choose to attend virtually.
