Piedmont Rockdale and Piedmont Oncology welcome surgical oncologist Brett Scott Walker, MD

Conyers, Ga. (December 3, 2025) – Piedmont Rockdale Hospital and Piedmont Oncology are pleased to welcome Brett Scott Walker, M.D., the hospital’s first surgical oncologist. Dr. Walker is a fellowship-trained surgical oncologist who cares for patients with a broad range of malignancies, with a focus on skin cancers, soft tissue sarcoma, gastrointestinal cancers and adrenal tumors.

“Dr. Walker is our first surgical oncologist at Piedmont Rockdale, and we couldn’t be more excited,” said Monica Hum, M.D., CEO. “Along with medical oncology and a state-of-the-art infusion center, Piedmont Rockdale now offers the full spectrum of cancer care. Patients will not have to travel far if they prefer to be treated close to home.”

Dr. Walker is trained in advanced robotic and minimally invasive surgical techniques and provides personalized treatment options with the latest medical advancements. He also offers palliative surgery for symptom management. His research has focused on cancer biomarkers and developmental pathways important to cancer progression as well as clinical outcomes for gastrointestinal and hepato-pancreato-biliary cancers.

Dr. Walker received his medical degree from Texas A&M University and completed his general surgery residency at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). He completed a cancer research fellowship at OHSU’s Knight Cancer Institute and a complex general surgical oncology fellowship at Emory University.
