Atlanta, Ga. (April 20, 2026) – Patient safety is a priority for Piedmont, as is the overall safety of every patient, volunteer, staff member, and physician on their campuses. Public Safety for all of Piedmont was recently recognized with the prestigious Lindberg Bell Program of Excellence Award from the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS). The award is presented to a facility or program that has established, administered, and maintained an outstanding healthcare security and safety program. It specifically honors organizational excellence in the design, administration, and outcomes of a comprehensive protection program.

“Piedmont has made a significant investment in strengthening public safety at all of our facilities,” said Mike Hodges, Vice President of Public Safety for Piedmont. “Not only did we add cameras around our campuses and weapons detection systems at our entrances, but we also focused on personnel training and strengthening relationships with our professional partners in the community.”

Piedmont has grown significantly in recent years, adding hospitals and facilities across the state of Georgia. The Public Safety program coordinated to ensure that each hospital had the equipment and personnel needed to ensure the safety of all on campus. The rollout was coordinated between system and entity leaders and public safety staff.

“We take the safety and security of all of our employees and patients very seriously,” said Hodges. “Whether it’s responding to emergencies, maintaining a secure environment, or simply being a reassuring presence, their work is vital to everything we do. This is a great honor for our Public Safety program.”
