Piedmont Physicians Sports Medicine Augusta cuts ribbon on new location
Augusta, Ga. (June 26, 2026) - Piedmont Physicians Sports Medicine Augusta has relocated its offices on the Piedmont Evans campus to 465 North Belair Road, Suite 3F, in Evans.
The practice celebrated the move with a ribbon-cutting ceremony June 25 in partnership with the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce.
“The move allows us to continue to grow and see more patients comfortably,” said Robert Gambrell, M.D., board-certified and fellowship-trained sports medicine specialist at Piedmont Physicians Sports Medicine Augusta.
“This new space enhances our ability to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care and expands access for athletes and active individuals across our community,” said Andrew Torrance, M.D., a sports medicine physician and former U.S. Army physician.
Piedmont Physicians Sports Medicine Augusta is staffed by experienced providers specializing in musculoskeletal and orthopedic care.
Dr. Gambrell has more than 20 years of experience practicing in Augusta. He has served as team physician for local high schools, the Augusta Lynx and Riverhawks ice hockey clubs, Augusta Boxing, USA Boxing and the G League NBA basketball. He specializes in treating general orthopedic and sports medicine conditions, including nonoperative fracture care, concussion evaluation and management, and ultrasound-guided musculoskeletal procedures such as injections, percutaneous tenotomy and orthobiologics.
Dr. Torrance completed his undergraduate and medical education at Mercer University. Prior to his sports medicine fellowship, he served nine years in forward-deployed units in the U.S. Army. He has served as a team physician for American University, the Augusta Riverhawks professional ice hockey team, the Augusta Boxing Club and multiple high school teams. His clinical interests include regenerative medicine and minimally invasive, ultrasound-guided procedures for chronic tendinopathies and nonoperative joint conditions.
