Piedmont Newton relocates and expands outpatient rehabilitation services

Covington, Ga. (September 30, 2026) – Piedmont Newton Hospital has relocated its outpatient rehabilitation practice from the hospital campus to Town Center in Covington. The move creates additional space to increase services and improve access to therapy for patients across Newton County and surrounding communities.

“With a larger facility, expanded services, and a team of highly trained therapists, we’re making it easier for patients to access the rehabilitation care they need close to home," said Jeffrey Sondergard, DPT, rehabilitation manager at Piedmont Newton.

The new location will continue to offer comprehensive physical therapy services for patients recovering from orthopedic injuries and surgeries, stroke, balance disorders and dizziness, and other conditions. Therapists provide individualized, one-on-one treatment designed to help patients regain strength, mobility, and independence.

As part of the move, Piedmont Newton is expanding outpatient rehabilitation services this fall by introducing speech, occupational, and lymphedema therapies. Speech therapy will help patients with communication and swallowing challenges related to stroke and other neurological conditions, while occupational therapy will help patients rebuild the skills needed for everyday activities. Two therapists will also offer lymphedema therapy for patients experiencing swelling caused by a buildup of lymph fluid, which is often associated with cancer treatment.
