Piedmont Newton and Piedmont Oncology welcome breast surgical oncologist Takeyla Williams, MD
Covington, Ga. (November 5, 2026) – Piedmont Newton Hospital and Piedmont Oncology are pleased to welcome Takeyla Williams, MD, a fellowship-trained breast surgical oncologist and the hospital’s first dedicated breast surgeon.
“We’re honored to welcome Dr. Williams to Piedmont Newton,” said CEO Lindsey Petrini. “We have worked hard to ensure that patients can receive care close to home, and the addition of a breast surgeon marks an important step in that commitment. Dr. Williams’ expertise will enhance access to comprehensive breast care and allow patients to receive care in their own community.”
Dr. Williams’ clinical interests include benign and malignant breast disease, breast cancer risk assessment, and risk modification. She will work closely with Piedmont Newton’s Women’s Diagnostic Center, medical oncology and infusion teams, and fellow surgeons to provide coordinated, patient-centered care.
“Dr. Williams is an exceptional physician and surgeon, and she will work with other clinicians throughout the system to identify new means of improving care for women with breast cancer,” said Wally Curran, MD, the Whitaker Endowed Chief of Piedmont Oncology.
Dr. Williams earned her medical degree from the Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta and completed her general surgery residency at East Tennessee State University, where she served as administrative chief resident. She then completed a fellowship in breast surgical oncology fellowship at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City.
“I’m grateful to bring breast surgery to Newton County,” Dr. Williams said. “Breast cancer care continues to evolve, offering tremendous hope. I look forward to guiding patients through their treatment journey and helping them make informed decisions.”
