Piedmont Newnan to host free head, neck cancer screening event

Newnan, Ga. (April 2, 2026) — Piedmont Newnan Hospital will host a free head and neck cancer screening on Thursday, April 23 from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Lower-Level Classroom located on the lower level of Piedmont Medical Plaza II, 795 Poplar Road, Newnan.
The event will be facilitated by otolaryngologists Mark McClinton, MD, of McClinton ENT of Newnan, and James Burson, MD, Burson ENT, as well as surgical oncologist, Mark El-Deiry, MD.
April is the month of Head and Neck Cancer Awareness and Piedmont Newnan is offering free screenings to encourage early detection. Head and neck cancers can affect our ability to speak, eat, drink and swallow. If found early, however, they can be successfully treated.
“You’re at-risk if you use alcohol or tobacco, have persistent neck mass or pain in the mouth/throat or are infected with HPV,” Dr. El-Deiry said. “If symptoms last longer than two weeks, you feel or see a lump in your neck, or your voice, swallowing or breathing has changed, it is time to get checked.”
