Piedmont Mountainside welcomes general surgeon Andrew Kramer, MD
Jasper, Ga. (July 15, 2026) – Piedmont Mountainside is pleased to welcome Andrew Kramer, MD, a board-certified general surgeon with more than 26 years of experience, to its growing surgical team.
Dr. Kramer brings extensive experience in general surgery, trauma medicine and surgical leadership. Prior to attending medical school, he served as a paramedic at the renowned Maryland Shock Trauma Center. He earned his medical degree from the University of Maryland before completing a surgical residency and Shock Research Fellowship at the University of South Florida.
A retired U.S. Army Reserve Lieutenant Colonel, Dr. Kramer served as a surgeon from 1994 to 2015, including two active-duty deployments. He also previously served as Chief of Surgery at Piedmont Eastside from 2009 to 2013, bringing valuable leadership experience and a longstanding connection to Piedmont.

Dr. Kramer has received numerous recognitions throughout his career, including the Vitals Patient Choice Award and Most Compassionate Doctor Award. His practice was also named “Best of Gwinnett” for multiple consecutive years, reflecting his commitment to exceptional patient care and outcomes.
His clinical interests include hernia repair, gallbladder surgery, skin cancer surgery and gastrointestinal procedures.
“I am excited to join the Piedmont Mountainside team and care for patients in the North Georgia community,” said Dr. Kramer. “My goal is to provide personalized, high-quality surgical care while helping patients feel informed, confident and supported throughout their treatment journey.”
Outside of medicine, Dr. Kramer enjoys traveling, playing billiards and precision long-range shooting. He is also fluent in French.
