Jasper, Ga. (February 24, 2026) — Piedmont Mountainside Hospital proudly celebrated the graduation of its Spring 2025 Nurse Residency cohort on Monday, February 23. The ceremony recognized three outstanding Nurse Residents — Courtney Salazar (left), Emily Davis and Luke Chambless — for their dedication and growth throughout the program. Salazar and Davis served in the emergency department, while Chambless worked in the medical/surgical unit.

As part of the celebration, the graduates presented an evidence-based project to hospital leadership focused on the utilization of dedicated quiet hours on inpatient units. Their presentation emphasized how quiet hours can improve patient outcomes, strengthen staff coordination, and enhance overall efficiency in clinical settings.

“Watching the resilience, dedication, and growth of these residents fills me with great pride,” said Jim Gay, Nurse Residency Coordinator at Piedmont Mountainside. “These nurses represent the future of our profession and validate the importance of a structured Nurse Residency program here at Piedmont Mountainside.”

The Nurse Residency Program at Piedmont Mountainside is designed to support newly licensed nurses as they transition into clinical practice. Through mentorship, professional development, and hands-on experience, the program fosters a strong foundation for long-term success in nursing.
