Piedmont Mountainside announces Thrive 5K to support breast cancer patients

Jasper, Ga. (April 2, 2026) — Piedmont Mountainside Hospital, in partnership with Northwest Georgia Oncology Centers (NGOC), will host the Thrive 5K for Breast Cancer on Saturday, April 11, 2026, beginning at 2 p.m. at Roper Park in Jasper. The community race benefits patients served by Piedmont Mountainside Hospital, with all proceeds supporting priority breast cancer initiatives and services. These funds help provide comprehensive care, including pre‑ and post‑treatment patient education, lymphedema prevention and therapy services for individuals identified as high‑risk breast cancer patients.

“As a breast surgeon, I see firsthand how the financial burden of breast cancer can impact patients and their families,” said Rosa Langella, MD, breast surgeon at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital and founder of the Thrive 5K. “No one should have to choose between receiving the care they need and managing daily living expenses. Thrive 5K allows our community to come together in a meaningful way to ensure patients have access to education, therapy and supportive services throughout their cancer journey.”

The Thrive 5K is open to runners and walkers of all ages and fitness levels. Participants are encouraged to wear pink in support of breast cancer awareness, with survivors, families, community organizations and local businesses invited to attend or form teams.
