Piedmont Mountainside highlights advanced wound care, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, infusion services

Jasper, Ga. (January 20, 2026) — Piedmont Mountainside Hospital is raising awareness about the importance of specialized wound care, infusion therapy and hyperbaric oxygen therapy, services that help patients heal when the body cannot do so on its own.
Although the human body has a remarkable ability to repair itself, some wounds do not heal without medical intervention. People of all ages may experience non-healing or chronic wounds, especially individuals with diabetes, infection, poor circulation, vascular disease or immune system challenges. Without timely treatment, these wounds may lead to serious complications, including infection, hospitalization and loss of mobility.
“At Piedmont Mountainside, we see firsthand how chronic wounds can affect someone’s physical health, independence and confidence,” said Kayla Easley, MSN, RN, CWON, manager of Outpatient Services at Piedmont Mountainside. “Our goal is to provide advanced, compassionate care that supports healing from the inside out. When a wound isn’t improving after a few weeks, it’s time for expert evaluation.”
Advanced wound care at Piedmont Mountainside
Piedmont Mountainside’s Wound Care Center provides individualized evaluations and evidence-based treatments designed to accelerate healing for wounds resulting from diabetes, pressure injuries, surgical complications, vascular issues or trauma.
Services include:
- Specialized dressings and advanced wound therapies
- Debridement
- Compression therapy
- Diabetic foot ulcer management
- Management of underlying conditions that slow healing
- Coordination with physicians and specialists to support collaborative, patient-centered care
“Our clinical team focuses on identifying and treating what’s preventing the body from healing,” Easley said. “That comprehensive approach is what drives our success.”
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy: A key resource close to home
Piedmont Mountainside operates one hyperbaric oxygen chamber, which enables eligible patients to receive hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT). HBOT delivers 100% oxygen at increased atmospheric pressure, helping the body fight infection, reduce inflammation and promote new tissue growth.
HBOT is commonly used to treat:
- Diabetic foot ulcers
- Radiation-related tissue injuries
- Chronic bone infections
- Compromised skin grafts or flaps
- Select wounds caused by vascular disease
- Gangrene & crush injuries
“Hyperbaric therapy can be life-changing for patients whose wounds have not responded to traditional treatments,” Easley said. “By increasing oxygen delivery to damaged tissue, HBOT supports the body’s natural healing process in a powerful way.”
Infusion therapy supporting recovery
Infusion therapy plays a critical role for patients whose wounds are complicated by infection, autoimmune disorders, inflammation or underlying illness. Piedmont Mountainside’s Infusion Services offer IV antibiotics, hydration therapy, medications for inflammatory or immune-related conditions, biologic medications, blood and platelet transfusion, immunoglobulin, rabies vaccines, and PICC/port management.
A community-focused commitment to healing
Denise Ray, CEO of Piedmont Mountainside, emphasized the importance of providing advanced wound care services close to home.
“Access to specialized wound care and hyperbaric therapy can make all the difference for our patients,” Ray said. “We are committed to ensuring our community has the resources, expertise and technologies needed to heal, stay healthy and live well. In addition to our comprehensive wound care offerings, Mountainside’s Infusion Services provide patients with convenient access to high-quality, physician-directed treatments without having to travel far from home. Piedmont Mountainside is proud to offer this high level of care right here in North Georgia.”
Piedmont Mountainside encourages individuals to seek medical attention for any wound that does not show signs of healing after two to four weeks, or for wounds accompanied by redness, swelling, increasing pain or drainage.
