Stockbridge, Ga. (May 7, 2026) – Piedmont Henry Hospital celebrated Nurses Week on Thursday, May 7 with its annual Nursing Awards. Nurses and nurse leaders were nominated by their peers in the following categories: Nurse Resident of the Year, Nurse Preceptor of the Year, Nurse Leader of the Year, and Nurse of the Year.

Marley Holmes, RN, was named the Nurse Resident of the Year. A Med/Surg nurse, Holmes started at Piedmont Henry as a student in the Dedicated Education Unit. She was nominated for demonstrating teamwork and connections and working hard. Her nomination letter also praised her for her attention to detail and catching changes in the conditions of her patients.

Tia White, RN, was named Nurse Preceptor of the Year. White is a preceptor for the ortho/trauma unit. Her nomination letter praised her for setting up new hires for success and for always being available to staff, adding, “Tia changes careers and shapes futures.” Her goal is to ensure that everyone feels supported and empowered.

Lisa Lassiter, the clinical manager of the Operating Room, was named Nurse Leader of the Year. Lassiter was recognized for being a great teammate as well as a great manager. One example cited was of her jumping into a high acuity trauma case. The letter read, “Her presence instilled a great deal of coordination and confidence.” Many members of her team were on hand to applaud her receiving this year’s award.

Ray May, an RN in the Admit Recovery Unit, was named Nurse of the Year. He was nominated for demonstrating clinical excellence and leadership as a resource for departments throughout the hospital. May lends his expertise wherever it is needed, especially in training new staff members. The example he sets of being committed to making a positive difference in every life he touches sets a high standard of care that others are eager to follow.

“I am fortunate to have the opportunity to read every nomination for these awards and am proud of the outstanding work of the entire team at Piedmont Henry,” said Chief Nursing Officer Paula Butts. “Our four winners this year are the best of the best. It is clear that they love what they do, and it is noticed by our patients as well as their colleagues.”
