Piedmont Henry designated Level III pediatric readiness center

Stockbridge, Ga. (December 29, 2025) – When it comes to emergency care for children, Piedmont Henry Hospital is ready. Recently, the hospital was designated a Level III pediatric readiness center by the Georgia Department of Public Health, Office of EMS and Trauma. The designation is for three years.
“Our leaders and staff members have worked tirelessly to improve the emergency and trauma care we are able to provide,” said Piedmont Henry CEO David Kent.
Piedmont Henry has been designated a Level III trauma center since 2023. A Level III trauma center can assess patients, resuscitate them, perform surgical interventions, provide intensive care and stabilization, and perform emergency operations. Piedmont Henry’s trauma program has a surgeon available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and has neurosurgical support.
A Level III pediatric readiness center can perform initial evaluation and stabilization of a critically ill child and provide appropriate, timely transfer to a higher level of care if needed.
“Any time that can be reduced in beginning trauma care, or transporting a patient to begin trauma care, can potentially lead to better outcomes,” Kent said. “The work we have done to earn these designations will make positive differences in countless lives.”
