Fayetteville, Ga. (August 21, 2026) – Piedmont Fayette Hospital has earned recognition as a high-performing hospital from U.S. News & World Report on the publication’s 2026-27 Best Hospitals list, including being named a Best Regional Hospital (Atlanta Metro) and being ranked 10th in the state.

“We appreciate this recognition and know that it is indicative of the high-quality care Piedmont Fayette provides to our patients in Fayette County and surrounding communities,” said Piedmont Fayette CEO Steve Porter.

Piedmont Fayette was rated high performing in 11 adult procedures and conditions, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), colon cancer surgery, diabetes, heart arrhythmia and heart attack. To receive a ranking in any specialty, hospitals must demonstrate excellence in treating the most seriously ill and medically complex patients.

Each year, U.S. News & World Report evaluates nearly 5,000 hospitals across the country in 15 specialty areas of care. To be ranked in a specialty, hospitals must demonstrate excellence in treating the sickest patients. Scores are based on factors such as survival rates, patient safety, nurse staffing, and more. Piedmont Fayette’s performance in these areas underscores its dedication to clinical excellence and patient-centered care.

Only about 500 U.S. hospitals earned the Best Regional Hospitals award, indicating overall excellence across the most common types of hospital-based care. They are general hospitals that earned at least eight "High Performing" ratings for Procedures & Conditions
