Piedmont expands primary care access with new locations in Thomson and Harlem

Augusta, Ga. (June 23, 2025) - Piedmont has expanded access to primary care services in McDuffie County and surrounding communities with the opening of two new locations on June 10.

Piedmont Physicians of Thomson, located at 2500 University Drive, and Piedmont Physicians of Harlem, located at 1331 Appling-Harlem Road, are now open and accepting new patients. The new practices reflect Piedmont’s continued commitment to making high-quality, patient-centered care more accessible to families across the region.

For many residents in these communities, accessing routine and preventive care has required traveling outside the area. These new locations bring trusted Piedmont providers closer to home, helping patients receive timely care where they live and work.

Angela (Angie) Powell, FNP-BC, is currently seeing patients at both locations. She provides care in Thomson on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and in Harlem on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Powell brings more than 25 years of healthcare experience, including work in primary care, urgent care, OB/GYN and rural health. A longtime member of the local community, she is committed to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care.
