Piedmont Doctors Honored at Physician of the Year Awards

Columbus, Ga. (May 16, 2025) – Piedmont Columbus Regional recently hosted its 12th annual Physician Recognition Reception.

“This program acknowledges the vital role our medical staff members play in the success of our organization,” said Piedmont Columbus Regional CEO Scott Hill. “Patients and team members nominate physicians that have made an impact on them.”

A physician of the year is recognized in the categories of leadership, clinical care and teaching.

Below are the 2025 award winners:

  • Howard S. Weldon, Jr. Excellence in Physician Leadership Award- Meagan Mahoney, M.D. 

  • Excellence in Clinical Care, Midtown Campus- Johnny Bonner, M.D., MBA

  • Excellence in Clinical Care, Northside Campus- David Gloystein, M.D. 

  • Excellence in Teaching- Jefferson Jones II, M.D.

Also at the reception, the Piedmont Columbus Regional Foundation inducted 17 physicians in the 2025 Honored Society. These physicians had grateful patients make contributions to the Foundation in their honor.
