Columbus, Ga. (May 29, 2025)— The Piedmont Columbus Regional Auxiliary welcomed 78 high school students into its 2025 class of the Youth Volunteer Program on May 29 with a mandatory orientation day. Volunteers heard from hospital leadership, team members across multiple departments and Auxiliary members.

The goal of the program is to attract and retain high school students aged 14-18 who are interested in pursuing a career in healthcare but have never gotten a taste of the industry before. The program launches June 2 and runs through July 31. Thirty-five departments across the Midtown and Northside hospital campuses, the John B. Amos Cancer Center and the Bill and Olivia Amos Children’s Hospital will house the student volunteers.

Students had to complete an application, essay and interview process before being selected to join the prestigious program, which was started in 1965 and is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year.
