Piedmont Atlanta Hospital launches teen volunteer program, expands volunteer opportunities for college students and adults
Atlanta, Ga. (March 13, 2026) – Piedmont Atlanta Hospital is expanding its volunteer program to welcome 16 and 17-year-olds. Applications for the summer 2026 teen volunteer program are due by March 22. Up to 25 teenagers will be accepted. Applicants must be 16 by June 1. Program dates are June 8 through July 31, 2026.
Teen volunteers may assist with guest check-in, organizing supplies, making deliveries to patient rooms (e.g., flowers and meal trays), and supporting basic patient needs such as offering water or a blanket. The teen volunteer program will provide career readiness and leadership development training as well.
“Piedmont’s core focus is high-quality, patient-centered care, and an integral part of that care is the service and support our volunteers provide. Additionally, we want to continue to empower our community and part of that is to provide more access and opportunities to serve, grow and explore career pathways to our young people,” said Kate Hewitt, director of Community Relations at Piedmont Atlanta. “I am confident the teen volunteers will make a positive difference in every life they touch here at Piedmont Atlanta—and, hopefully, some will be inspired to return one day as nurses, doctors and other medical professionals.”
Piedmont Atlanta also now has distinct volunteer programs for college students and adults. New cohorts of the college volunteer program start each semester. Applications for the summer 2026 semester are due by March 22 for a June 1 program start.
Meanwhile, adult volunteer applications are accepted on a rolling basis most of the year (with the exception of June, July and December). The hospital requests adults commit to at least one year of volunteering.
Piedmont Atlanta especially needs volunteers to serve as greeters at entrance/guest services desks and as golf cart drivers.
